the Waterbourne Beach Festival will be hosting the EVES Real Estate Paddle Boarding Championships in Mount Maunganui this year.

The SUP racing will take place on the 11th of March 2023 at Mount Maunganui Main Beach. March 12th will be the alternate race day if weather is unfavourable.

Racing Types

300m sprints: These races will be short and sharp, where athletes will race from the beach, to a mark and then back to the beach for a finish… making it easy with only one turn with the option to go left or right.

Technical race: This will be approximately 1.5km-2km and will involve multiple turns. These races will create more action where paddlers will also be required to run through a gantry on the beach during the race

Distance race: This will be done if we have time and conditions are suitable. The race will be from Mt Maunganui to Papamoa and will be approximately 12km.

Racing will be on Mount Maunganui Main Beach side, where we will move to Leisure Island if conditions are too rough. If conditions are still too rough or dangerous we will race from Pilot Bay.
